Win It Wednesday - Chico Bag Produce Stand Starter Kit

This week's Win It Wednesday is a complete Chico Bag Produce Stand starter kit!  I recently received the bags from Chico Bag and love them.  They work great and keep your produce fresh a lot longer than keeping them unprotected in your vegetable compartment.

The Produce Stand collection by ChicoBag™ is the first reusable line of produce bags specifically designed to maintain optimal humidity and air flow keeping fruits and vegetables fresh and healthy. The Produce Stand Collection consists of three different reusable produce bags. Each produce bag is constructed from a different fabric designed to optimize freshness when paired with the right produce. All three bags are machine washable and stuff into an adorable apple pouch with an attached carabiner, making it easy to carry and store your bags when not in use.
Ready to win it?  Email me with your response to the following question at fitnessandthefoodie@gmail.com.  Good luck!!

If there is only one vegetable you could eat for the rest of your life, what would it be and why?

And the Lucini Italia Cinque e' Cinque Winner Is!!!

There were so many entries to last week's Win It Wednesday Friday which is wonderful but also always makes me feel a bit bad as only one person gets to win.  Luckily, we have some pretty fun fitness and gourmet food products to share each week with some really exciting prizes coming up over the coming weeks.  Please keep trying if you don't win!  All responses were tossed into a hat, and the winner is.......

#32, Kelly Schaefer.  And here is her response to last week's question on what she planned to do over the weekend that was just for herself:

Firstly, I took a 3 mile walk this morning in this blistering heat.  I felt great, soaked in sweat, but was great think time for me.  Now that its later in the day, I am thinking of trying out a new recipe for dinner.  Something that I want to try, not that everyone is clamoring for me to make them!  Later, I am going to relax and catch up on some of my reading.....magazines have been piling up.

Thanks for asking.  Sometimes, well, ok, most of the time, its hard for us to concentrate and do something just for ourselves.  Thanks for the reminder!
Kelly won a package of the Lucini Italia Cinque e' Cinque and Whisk!

Congratulations Kelly!

Win It Wednesday - One Hour of Personal Training!!!

Here it is!  Finally, Win It Wednesday and our giveaway for one hour of personal training with Mike Rouillard, my Evil Training Monster!  Three years ago I decided to shift my fitness routine to include muscle, strength and core exercises, taking me way out of my cardio comfort zone.

I have to admit, I am the cardio queen and never met a kickboxing, spin or step class I didn't love.  My workouts with Mike?  Well, that's a whole different beast entirely.

Here's what has changed for me since I started with Mike and began building muscle and core streangth:
  • My body fat percentage has continued to decline
  • Hello!!   I see muscle!
  • I feel strong
  • I can do pull-ups!  Okay, maybe only a couple but they are there.  I could not have said that three years ago!
  • Push ups, the real way!  Not on my knees!
  • I have abs, and I can feel them
  • If I slack off, lose focus or otherwise need a good kick in the rear, Mike is always (ALWAYS) happy to step in and dial up the training to get me back on track
  • Its something the hubby and I can do together
  • Combined with my cardio workouts, it allows me room for indulgances in my life (ummm wine, dirty martinis, pasta, bread, Mexican food, and the list goes on and on)
Although I lost most of my weight before I started with personal training, I thought a look back might be appropriate.  At my highest, I weighed in at 220 lbs.

For those of you who have read my bio on the Fitness & Foodie website (and seen the other photos), you know that this has been a process taking years of hard work.  And, while training with Mike is no walk in the park, the work has turned into a passion and lifestyle choice that I can't see going without.

To enter this week's Win It Wednesday either respond to this post or email me at fitnessandthefoodie@gmail.com with an answer to the following question:

What have you been putting of doing, you know, that thing you keep saying that someday soon you'll get around to?

Monday? Already?

Monday rolled around fast and so did my training this morning with Mike (E.T.M.)  For any Fitness & The Foodie reader interested in:

Working on balance:

Strength:

Upper body:

Don't forget that this week's Win It Wednesday will be a one hour training session with Mike!  I complained all morning during this workout (okay, 6:00 a.m. is just really early), but I absolutely find the training invaluable.  I even got Jamie into the act!

After work today we took Hunter on a walk in the neighborhood.

And came home to a whole wheat pasta bake with leftover ingredients from Pizza on the Grill night.

Its was so hot inside our house tonight we ate outside while the sun set

Today has been full and I've actually got a bunch of work to do for our upcoming San Diego Bay Wine & Food Festival.  Our team just produced a fun video clip featuring Chef Bernard Guillas and a salmon recipe I can't wait to try.  Keep an eye out tomorrow for the post!

Good night!

Win It Wednesday (A preview!)

Tomorrow morning before heading to the WSET class I train with Mike, my Evil Training Monster as I so fondly call him.  Keep an eye out for my post of this training session because next week's Win It Wednesday will be for a one hour session with the E.T.M himself!

I'm really excited that Mike has offered this to Fitness & The Foodie readers as working with him over the past two years has taken my fitness and strength to a whole new level.

Stay tuned!

And The Passport To Prana Winner Is!

Congratulations to Teresa, this week's winner of Win It Wednesday and the Passport to Prana!  Here's Teresa's response to this week's question of kindness.
My act of kindness for the week is small yet we all love when it happens to us.  I let a women into traffic form a mall exit. Jammed with cars and everyone acting like they just don't see her. I felt her pain and stopped for all of 2 seconds.  Hardly much effort on my part but I'm sure I made her day.  Hope for the human race.

Win It Wednesday - Arizona Rescue Water

This week I received a care package from the team at Arizona Tea filled with four flavors of their new Arizona Rescue Water.  Today's Win It Wednesday winner will receive a four-pack of the water to try - one of each flavor!

The company partnered up with TWINLAB to design the new line of enhanced waters filling them with vitamins and antioxidants designed to increase the rate of fluid replacement in the body.  The waters come in four varieties:
  • Energy (Lemon-Lime)
  • Immunity (Pomegranate Punch)
  • Detox (Orange-Citrus)
  • Relax (Berry Blend)
Each bottle is 2.5 servings and contains 25 calories per serving.  If you like energy drinks this water is a great alternative with a lot less calories, no artificial flavors or colors, and Green Tea extract (Super Food Alert!)   I tried the Energy (Lemon-Lime) after my hour and a half workout last night and liked the flavor and lack of aftertaste.  The calorie content is appealing as well and I can drink this easily on the Game On program.

Here's what you need to do in order to win.  Answer the following question by entering your reply in the comment box or emailing it to me at fitnessandthefoodie@gmail.com.  Comments will be posted!

What are your plans for the July 4 weekend?
