Community Table at Gjelina

Saturday night, after an amazing morning of yoga and a day in seminars, it was time for a real treat.  A friend of mine suggested we try farm to table driven restaurant Gjelina led by celebrated Los Angeles chef Travis Lett.

Thankful for coming to Los Angeles prepared to get in my workouts, I set out to discover this much talked about gem completely guilt free.

Jolee and I got seats toward the end of one of two community tables and quickly fell into conversation with three ladies out for GNO (Girl's Night Out).  Remember the buzz I felt from yoga?  This restaurant was that personified.

Our night started with a tomato and burrata salad

Braised Chickpeas

Marinated Beet & Avocado with Hazelnuts & Sherry

Hen of the Woods Mushroom Toast with Creme Fraiche & Truffle Oil

Grilled Monterey Bay Squid with a White Bean Salad & Salsa Verde

And ended on a very high note with Strawberry/Rhubarb/Cornmeal Crisp with Toasted Almond Gelato

And probably the best Pot de Creme I have ever had:  Butterscotch Pot de Crème with Salted Caramel & Crème Fraiche.  I'm usually a "take a bite of dessert and pass it on" kind of girl but not that night.  I was beyond territorial with the Pot de Creme!
