Sunday Night Pizza BBQ

With my niece Jamie staying with us for a few days, we all thought Sunday night was perfect for a little pizza cookout. Our friends Ken and Jolee have perfected the art of the grilled pizza so a quick phone call later and an impromptu party was underway.

Aside from good pizza dough which we picked up from Trader Joes, the key to a exceptional grilled pizza is a super hot grill, pizza stone, corn meal and a ton of fun ingredients.  Let me see if I can remember even half of them:
  • Figs
  • Feta Cheese
  • Artichoke Hearts
  • Jalapeno Peppers
  • Marinara Sauce
  • Olive Oil
  • Onion, Garlic and Shallots
  • Artichoke spread
  • Pesto
  • Salami
  • Peperoni
  • Mozzarella Cheese
  • Fresh herbs from Jolee's garden
  • Tomato
  • Arugula
  • Italian Sausage
  • Provolone
  • Mushrooms
  • Kalamata Olives
  • Mini mixed sausages
  • Bell pepper
  • Whole Wheat and White Pizza Dough
  • Whew!

We each dive in to make our own gourmet pie

Then on the grill they go!

My niece Jamie kept it simple.  Peperoni, sauce, cheese, bell pepper and salad.

And for dessert, our friend Stephanie made a sinful banana, blueberry and cinnamon sugar pizza.  Okay, she made it for her daughter but after we saw it Becki and I both told her she needed to make enough to go around.  To. Die. For.
